Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Health Psychologist?

A Health Psychologist is a psychologist who specialises in understanding how thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and environments influence health and wellbeing. Health Psychologists support people to develop practical strategies for coping with health challenges, managing stress, improving wellbeing, and making sustainable lifestyle changes. As a Chartered Health Psychologist, I use evidence-based approaches tailored to each person’s circumstances and goals.

Why choose a Health Psychologist?

Working with a Health Psychologist offers a unique, holistic perspective. I look beyond the symptoms to understand the bigger picture of your life—connecting the dots between your habits, environment, your mental wellbeing, your social connections and your physical health. My approach is rooted in science, but deeply human, ensuring that you receive evidence-based strategies that are practical, manageable, and tailored specifically to your life, strengths, and goals.

What can I get help with?

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Illness Adjustment & Chronic Health: Supporting you through diagnosis, long-term conditions, chronic pain, fatigue, and recovery from medical treatment (including post-surgery body image and adjustment).
  • Brain Health & Cognitive Changes: Providing adjustment support for mild cognitive impairment (MCI), early-stage dementia, stroke recovery, and age-related memory concerns.
  • Life Transitions & Hormonal Health: Specialised support for perimenopause and menopause, including addressing symptoms like ‘brain fog,’ mood changes, fatigue, and navigating shifts in identity.
  • Caregiver Support: Building resilience and sustainable coping strategies for family members and carers of those with complex health conditions or dementia.
What happens in a session?

Sessions provide a confidential, supportive space to explore your concerns and identify practical ways forward. Together, we will develop an understanding of what is contributing to your difficulties and create strategies that fit your life, strengths, and goals.

Do I need a diagnosis or referral?

No. You do not need a diagnosis or referral to book an appointment. You can contact me directly.

Are session online or in person?

Most individual sessions are delivered online, allowing flexibility and accessibility, particularly in reducing stress and fatigue in having to travel to an appointment. We will discuss if you have specific accessibility needs for your sessions.

In some cases, where online sessions are not suitable, I can visit people in their homes; this will incur a pre-agreed mileage charge.

Nature-based sessions may also be available depending on location and service.

How long is a session?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes.

How much does a session cost?

Individual consultations are €150 per 50-minute session. I also offer an initial 30-minute consultation to discuss your needs and determine if this service is the right fit. Please get in touch to book this initial conversation.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in sessions is treated confidentially in accordance with professional and ethical guidelines, with a small number of legal and professional exceptions that will be explained at the outset. These are also outlined in the privacy policy.

Do you offer workshops, training, or organisational support?

Yes. I provide workshops, staff training, wellbeing programmes, supervision, and consultancy for organisations, healthcare services, community groups, and workplaces. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

How do I get started?

You can contact me here. I will respond as soon as possible and we can arrange an initial conversation to discuss your needs and whether my approach is a good fit for you.
